Coloring the sky

I pushed the magic button, automatic ignition, and Cla-Plump! Bang! it shifted gears, lurched, and died. Like the lady stranded in the Winn Dixie parking lot, ice cream melting, beer getting warm, I tried it over and over and over again. Then I kicked it. Once for good luck. Swung my good booted foot around and kicked it twice for "try that"! Sometimes, it just takes a good wallop to get everything back in order.

Nothing.

She just sat there, too old, too cold, too dead to even groan. I felt bad for being a bully, and apologized. It was too late. On Wednesday, the neighbor and I will haul her, one heavy inch at a time to the curb. If she's lucky, a body snatcher will come in the night, and whisk her cumbersome remains off to be reincarnated into something grander....otherwise, she'll be laid to rest at the top of a mile high mountain of likened souls, teetering at the top, until she's buried under the next week's refuge.

Good-bye, sweet little dryer. Hello blue skies!

Ha Ha, I remember when we didn't have the choice but to hang 'em high, back when we wuz yungins... and we had to iron clothes forever, every Saturday morning. There's a reason for everything, and no reason not to find the good. Ahhhh... smell the fresh air! At the lake this weekend the geese were making quite a racket. As we were about to leave, my partner says, "Listen at those geese, somethin' must be over there botherin' 'em, tryin' to get 'em or somethin', all that racket their makin'!" I replied back, "No, they're makin' a racket 'cause they're so happy to have the water level back up, they're makin' a joyful noise!" His niece heard the rhetoric and quipped in, "Now that's a perfectly good example of the difference between 'my cup's half empty or my cup's half full'. You seem to always see the beauty of the moment. I love that! Clink!

What a coincidence - I read your post while waiting for my clothes to come out of the dryer! I'd be lost without it (I don't own an iron). Luckily it's a coin-op in the laundry room upstairs and its operational status is not my responsibility. Good luck finding a replacement - we all get so attached to our old appliances...

she....Clink! Yup, the clothesline is right where.....the pool was before it popped and turned into the riverwide and yesterday was a gorgeous day here.....I pullled out the paints and did a little "peace" tatooing on the wall at the end of the line..... Every color blowing in the breeze, now grapevined into the shape of peace!

skinny...Flags flew all day! I kinda like all the color, like giant sleepy windchimes, hovering in slow motion!

dirkstar....TY! I like those words!

bettermoon.....Oh, sweetie, welcome to this land! We've been waiting on you to pitch a tent for a while now! Here we go, girls.....!!!!!

Shimmerings....I so clink! you to that! And I do believe in the whole "meant to be" theory. I hope those geese had a wonderful day whoopin' and hollerin'! And I kinda think they did :)

Electric....ha! I don't iron either! There's gonna be a little "line drying art" goin' on around here! But, it's all good. The absolutely wild thing is that just a few hours after I threw this post up here, I got a phonecall from Bettermoon, above, and wallah! Guess who has an electric dryer sitting in a gas-only laundrey room waiting on a home? How cool is that? Now, if we can just figure out how to haul that baby home......:)

Peace~love my friends
And colors, blowing in the breeze

Ironing? Shi-it, the wrinkles go away by themselves from hanging them up, right?

Look at you--you even make a clothes drying yarn sound like the greatest adventure anyone and everyone should have.

Hippie, homemaker, hope sayer and have a good one rain maker.

Peace out, my friend. time to get wo hours of sleep.

Take the baseball bat and hellfire to it.

Or, gut the innards and turn it into a weird storage crate.

I thought for sure it was a motorcycle.

I have seen a lot of the washer and dryer lately with me being on Christmas Break from school-trying to give the wife a break.
They are valued items.

Glad you have blue skies to save you!!!!!

How do you write in color? I am a technologically challenged. Can you help me?

Maybe some sockless folks will find her and force her to cough up the goodies!

eric....I have my Mother's iron from when she got married, she gave it to me in case I ever needed to knock the hell out of anyone! Nah, we don't iron, I fold my clothes like origami, pile 'em up on the furniture so the cat's have a good place to rest, and where 'em just like that! After an hour or so you're all crumpled and folded and 501 blued anyhoo! Peace, my friend, and blue skies, they're free!

karma....you're wish came true! And poof! she was gone in the middle of the night:) I hope she turns out to be a sculpture!

ultra....We buggy-lugged the old bat to the curb last night, I couldn't wait til Wednesday....at 10:00 a man the size of the moon knocked on my door and asked me if it worked.....I said, ummmmm, no....but you're welcome to it, and he hauled her off....I'll have to save the baseball bat and hellfire for the next appliane to go awry! :)

wreckless....if it were a motorcycle, I would have tied it to the bumper of the car, and had someone tow me into oblivion! And I never, ever, ever would have kicked it (I live in biker central you know and that's a cardinal sin!) Colorings easy, when you're typing your post, highlight the words you want to paint, and then hit the little tab to the right of the one for fonts size, it opens up a window of rainbow colors, pick 'em out and hit enter! Paint your town, baby!

spongy....OMG! Somebody took her in the night! I have no idea what all she might cough up! :) Happy new year, sweetie!

KJ....you have....you girls are the bomb!

Peace~love my friends
Gotta a surprise comin'!

All I can say is that I hope for reincarnation for all of us.

Eric.....I was moonwalkin'! :) wandering....starhopping....and then there you were!

Sandy....I heard almost those same words this time last year...Skinny said to me "build a bridge"! Go forth, love, it's still gonna be a good one!

ultra....Yup! And I could choreograph a routine and get hired by Cirque de Solei! Yeah, that's it! I love it!

Enemy.....I don't know what I hope for......just give me peace.... this time, next time, anytime!

You're gonna call me crazy,

But i've always loved hangin
clothes on the line...

Theres something about wet clothes, a soft wind and a blue sky that just feels like love to me...

For the full experience i do it barefoot ;)

You are so wonderful my friend...there are no words in my language deep enough to describe you,

Love and peace, M

Ha! Crossed you real time! I don't think you're crazy at all, I've fallin in love with that silly clothes line, draped over the graveyard of where the pool used to be, where the white sand is.....

I watch the colors in the wind, a kaleidescope of
wrapping paper.....
work scrubs....
hand me down jeans....
tattered old towels still clinging on ....
And the butterflies flit from color to color.....
Ballet on a swinging bridge.....
Nah, I don't think you're crazy,
I love it!

peace~love
my barefoot friend!

It's always sad when a major appliance dies.

But still, I hope that when you're near death, forty or fifty years from now, that the doctors won't kick you around hoping that you'll come back to life:-)

Being put out with trash would probably be a drag too.

Where are the "Stepford" machines when you need 'em?

xdell....well I hope they don't try to kick life back into me ,too, but as far as the tossing is concerned, I quite like trash... I'm sure I'd be comfy cozy at the curb! :)

Orhan....Ahhhhh, and it almost did! Ta!Dah! Only dropped that baby once on the way to the curb! :)

Mindy....Ha! I think mine was the whole respect thing, I mean, you shouldn't beat a dead dryer! :)

Benji....See? It's not so bad! :)

It's almost Friday!

Clink!

eric1313 said...

Been worried about you!

singleton said...

David....at 107 my clothes would die! The ratty tatty towels would disentegrate on the line! All my hand me down jeans would fry and the pockets would fall off! But maybe, I'll courier the love beads there, they have to back at 220 in the oven, you could just set them out on the porch for the day! Whew!

Eric....Clinkity Tinkity Clink! It's been days of the strangeness Moon, and the porch has been filled with the comings and goings of friends in distress
or limbo
or in~between....
"Find your peace" I whisper over and over again.....
but the stories are stuck,
like a 45 scratched
and it's raining broken records!
I'll catch up soon, my friend, miss you too!

SLB....you're gettin' punchy! The leaf blower is for your hair when the blowdrier dies! :)

Pythia.....Welcome, I missed you at the Butterfly, so the next one's on me! And you're right, downy sheets....that's the summer, captured! Love 'em!

Peace~love my friends
And the blue~blue of a perfect sky!

Mornin' Sunshine!

eric1313 said...

Mornin' back at ya!

How was your night?

singleton said...

Ha! It's been a soap box derby, one story after another,
racing to the finish line
and then
flags,
back to the beginning.....
but I hear the quiet
gaining
strength.....

And feel the beach,
callin' my name,
whispering,
saying
"Run away"....
"I'm here"......

How are you doing?

Princess Pointful said...

I agree with commenter #1... you make the seemingly littlest details of life, like a lonely dryer, into mini-masterpieces.

princess....And so do you! Clink!

That reminds me of a saying of my step dad, "The bigger the problem the bigger the hammer". It never worked with things mechanical...but it did have some othe useful applications :)

singleton said...

Max.....And the wise man spoke...Funny, but I don't miss that baby in the least.....The clothes flapping in the breeze look like colored flags flying free against the driftwood colored fence, we dress ourselves in the smell of the morning, the night, the in~between sunshine and rainshine.....suddenly, it's an accidental gift!
