Ask...

I was devastated. I believe in what is meant to be, and what never was, and if something doesn't happen, something else will. But I was devastated. "Are you kidding me?" "A thousand dollars to just spruce up the juice to the wanna be studio so we can make a condo out of a boys-night-out?" "Well, yeah, if you want it to be safe, and good, and to work right".....

I was devastated. We had recruited an army of willing arms to swing hammers and dig trenches. To barbeque chicken. To run ice. To hang drywall and pour concrete. We had scavenged the streets for donations, asking for the world, and being gifted over and over again. And, then, "are you kidding me?" we couldn't make it safe.....

Strong enough to power the air conditioning in triple digit heat, the coffee pot balanced on the makeshift counter top.....
the oxygen machine when it came.....

"Are you kidding me?"

Today, we shifted gears.

We started asking strangers.

Peace~love

Tomorrow everything we need to wire up the sound will be neatly packed in the back of Chey's pick-up truck. Friday night we'll pow-wow. On Saturday we'll tear the walls down. On Sunday we'll put them up again.

May the circle be unbroken.

Sometime soon,
I'll have a friend in the backyard....

And he will
have
an
army of new friends...
clinking!
Praying for the healing.....

Don't say inspector or code enforcement....nah,nah,nah... see no evil, hear no evil, share no evil & it's all good.

slb...nah, I wouldnt be devastated over code enforcement, I would dodge them, 500 wholesale, 1000 retail....I was blown away at the list....but it's all good, it's going down.... it's a grapevine, a circle, we just had to reach in the right direction.

Your words get me every time, sometimes they get me into a deep diving flight and sometimes they stare back at me without blinking. You don't need to be dramatic and profound, your subject matter already is and you let it speak for you and you guide the words in for a landing--just like many others we know and love and read religiously.

But you have it and have had it for a while. You are a master within your personal themes, its great to read anything you write. My turn to post. Wish me luck.

Or maybe its luck who has me, holding onto the loose threads and not letting me fall too far, just enough to be able to narrate the journey down and roll into a perfect landing, or talk about the way the sky looks gazing up for an hour or two at where I came from before the crash.

Peace and Love
And best wishes for the health of your friend. It's so important to support those in need, and not everyone has the room to do it, both property wise or room in the heart. You have both.

blue....sorry, I just ramble sometimes. We are rebuilding in my backyard. And we are doing it all on wings of angels, we just weren't expecting the actual costs of the electric to be so expensive. And it has to be done right. This friend is not well and will be going through some very serious treatments so we need it as accomodative as possible. (See the post before last to catch the beginning) Anyhew, it's gonna work out, we're taking the list today to an electrical contractor in the next little town who has promised to load up our shopping cart! There are angels everywhere!
xoxox

kimbies...it's unbelievable isn't it? One bar, one dance floor, and a hundred hands reaching out to form a circle..... Hearts, everywhere we look, there are hearts! peace~love my love

scott....Don't be surprised if we come a knockin'! Yeah, it's gonna be good. Had the crew here last night for final measurements and walk-throughs, and the ever growing list of "oh yeah, we're gonna need this and this..." Knock-down starts saturday, and so do the grills!

singleton said...

jr....Nah, actually you sound like me. That was the whole glich in the last few days, trying to make it so absolutely safe, not only for liability, not only so that both the little cottage and my house are protected, but so he is safe within those walls, and comfortable.... I guess I'm naive but I always think you can just go poof! And like magic, things just happen. And they will, we just had to knock on the right doors!

Eric....I wish you luck in all, every word, every day, and yes, I'm staring back at you. Unblinking. Watching you write off the paper, off the walls, into the sky. Thank you so much for your support. I hope he'll find peace here, behind the picket fence. A new place to hang his tired cowboy hat at the end of the day. And that the friendships that are forged are good ones, strong ones, long ones. Peace~love my friend

kj....sorry, I didn't even think that no one would understand, just plopped at the keyboard and started banging! Thank you for the well-wishes. May the healing begin!

My sweet tired Orhan.....I didn't add anything! Just these words! But the same thing happened to me when I tried to visit friends last night. After the third time, I just logged out and went to bed, it was like getting hijacked! Seems to be ok today! I probably should have given more details earlier, but when I wrote "Behind the gate" a week-ago, that was pretty much so the beginning. A casual friend of mine, who Kimbies has embraced since the moment they met, has been dx'd with cancer also, and without insurance, the good kind, has lost just about everything, first and foremost, his home. In our little world, that is just unacceptable, and here, in our bar, in our neighborhood, folks might not have money, but they have hell of big hearts and strong shoulders, so we had a pow-wow to figure out where he could go, mighty strong treatments on the front, and the next thing you know, we are building a cottage out of my studio in the backyard. That will give him privacy, and peace, but also friends just a few steps away. We have not collected the first dime, nor do we want to, but we made a list of everything from staples, to paint, insulation, all of it, everything we needed to make it perfect, to code, and to comfort and we just started to freak when we got to the wires,,,,who the hell was gonna donate that much stuff? Ahhh, but they did. Watch for the thank you list, to be posted soon!

Wow, that is a touching tale of problems. I've seen the documentary Sicko by Michael Moore and I must say I'm very suprised at your health care system. Whatever money you save should go towards sending him to England, Britian, Cuba or Australia for treatment.

I do hope things change for the better.

football basketball baseball caps
and look back at the beauty that was the day unwinding
the threads tangled
like desire and anticipation and
lust for all of life's lessons,
and dread and reality's bite
in one touch
a kiss of time

Waiting for the unknowable to be
known

The night falls down onto us
for another roll of the dice
for another tequilla sundown
gone with the day,
for another chance
to let her win and stay crowned
that way forever

Heaven's son has finally come
home to stay.

for a kiss of time,
to hang a care-worn hat
in a place where it can belong

Gawd, I love them all, and they are passing the love, but hell, these boys cuss and they're pre-hungary (And I dont cook!) and pre-thirsty (I'm begging at the corner store) and they think we know the difference between begging for UFs and UVs and 20amps and 15 and 30s and "kobe base" and base boards, and all that insulation stuff! Justgivemepeace and a place for my friend to hang his cowboy hat, and I'll throw the best damn party you've ever been t, when we're done! So....could you come on Saturday?

eric1313 said...

You're hilarious. Hope you got back in the window--windows still work, right? I don't even know...

I'm still here, never let the window close, actually. I opened your site on a new tab earlier when I got in through the keyhole like a genie of evening mist and left the line open, a tight rope between tenements a hundred feet above the alley and I'm walking it--an acrobat with a message:

Peace out, Blue Lady. Fly on through midnight's velvet scrim. Meet you there.

Hope they set the world back on it's axis by tomorrow.

I'd love to be an indian in your village of chiefs. I doubt Big Fat Floyd (my Olds Delta Ninety Eight) would make it. And as long as there's pb&banana sandwiches, I'm cool.

Every woman I get along with doesn't cook! It's hilarious and probably why i'm so skinny. :)

David
Thanks for the advice. I think I can get a post out, but it takes forever to load even that... I'll set a new tab to work at opening up your page, at least say hi and check out the reading.
