You don't have to keep hittin' me in the head!

Ahhhh,
I slept in....
the first time in forever that I've wallowed in the sheets, soaking up 8 hours of almost dreamless sleep. It's a lazy, lazy world today.....

I sipped my coffee strong and slow, and filled the cup again. Watched the smoke patterns dancing from my cigarette, sky-writing in the space above the ashtray. I stretched. "What sweet diversion shall I come up with today?"......

And so, unshowered, and bed-headed I found my way to my favorite morning place, the painted porch. Parked my little buns down on the floor, indian style, amongst the sea of colored markers and pencils....and started to color.....

"Peace....", I smiled at the black and white lady on paper.....

That was right before the perfectly good bike flew off the perfectly sound wall and cold-cocked me in the face. Right before the collision sent my cup of iced tea flying across my lap, spray painting my drawing with caffiene and lining my cut-offs with ice cubes. Right before I saw stars...... Right before my neighbor pulled the bike off of me and slung it out the door like a rabid rattlesnake.....

That was one minute before my nose started bleeding. Five minutes before the fuscia eggs started growing on my forehead, one hour before the black-eye started staring back at me in the bathroom mirror.

I guess I won't be going out tonight....

And as for the bad, bad bike, well, Take that! My friend! You better hope it doesn't rain!

Bad day, huh, next time you know first to wash your face then continue the chill out, :) they say if you can shift your morning emotions in positive ones your entire day goes well, if not :) shit happens. I wander if that's true.

My first time on your blog, the first pot I read, made me smile a little, and as I see your a very talented guy, I will read more to discover your passion. In my free time

Sigleton, you'll always be beautiful to me! Black eye or not. We'd just wear singlasses at night to the beach or the club.

Was it only peace that was broken? Or did one of the ladies get hurt? All three, most likely. I hope you take it easy.

The fourteenth was a quite a motha, huh?

p~l clink! the clearest clink! ever, friend.

singleton, ouch. how bad is it when you get startled like that--in a split second. this sounds worse than my saga with the wasps.

i hope your lumps and bumps are declining. and any black eye is seen as your own unique fashion statement.

take care!

Just as long as you and the peace are still in one piece, there's hope for all the beautiful faces to get born through your markers and paints. The wall hold the writting athousand layers deep, a thousand stories of love and blue jeans and snakecharms and the sea.

the golden eyes
will go behind clouds
to return
to stare at you when
the lights go out
and you want that
kind of peace that
only golden eyes say

Clink!

I think you should hang it up after behaviour like that!

singleton said...

kj... Oh No! If I had gotten bitten by the tiniest wasp my head would be three times as big as it is now! I totally sympathize with you!

eric...Another day down! clink! To walls a thousand layers deep!

Sue....I was thinking the same thing:)

Yikes, isn't that just like life to come and up-slap you across the head when you least expect it? Poor baby, someone needs to buy some steak for that eye (or tummy). Wrap yourself up in a beer, and leave that mean bike to think about what it's done..

sounds like something that would happen to me. ha! once i was walking across the yard saying to myself what a beautiful day it was, and then, i was stung by the biggest bee ever! it wouldn't stop either. i spent the next few minutes rolling around on the ground trying to get it off of my sock. (my purse and papers flying everywhere) and the next few days tending to an ankle the size of an elephant. ugh. stupid bike, stupid bee.

Oh, ow. It was a happy story with the coloring and all till the bad bike came into the picture. Hope everything heals up quickly.

Hope you're OK today, sweet friend.

The writing on the wall, a thousand layers deep, each one a page of life's survival guide, a poem for love to live by
a story of sunshine beauty
sipping a michelob
sunglasses and a smile
the sun
says

tink!
and you do just that.
clink tink!

we each have a destiny

and to keep us on course, right time, right place,

that is,

write time, write place

this requires the occasional flat tire, which slows us down

the rare three green lights in a row, which speeds us up

and the ole' bike in the head trick on a lazy morning

so you can use that black eye to knock us out with your amazing prose

"ouch!"

your pain, our pleasure.

let's all take turns shall we?

singleton said...

she....You have me smiling broadly, and you are so right, that bump on the head kept my fanny parked at home on Saturday night and for whatever unknown reason, I'm sure that is where I was supposed to be.....
"the ole' bike in the head trick on a lazy morning".......
peace, love, turns....

Sheesh. Attacked by a bike! Ow. What a nasty way to be jolted from your happy reverie on the porch. In case the gods aren't through with you yet, please hang on in the shower and be careful crossing the street.

Is eating chocolate good for black eyes?

justacoolcat said...

My bike is also a jealous and harsh mistress. I hope it's not too bad.

singleton said...

suchacoolcat....I had no idea she was in such a wad! She never said a word!

singleton said...

wizened....Oh you have me cracking up, "hold on in the shower".....I honestly feared my next trip there, figured I'd go splat there for sure! Chocolate, ribeyes, beer, self-indulgence, it's all working wonders!
