Something always gives me away.....

They were two beautiful people. Right off the glossy pages of magazines I never read. His hair just just so, matching the square jaw and tiny little cleft chin God had given him. His nails the color of the very, very heart of a conch shell....lacquared by nature. He was tall and I imagined, quite in shape. I could see him only from the waist up, and her from the Magic Bra line up.

Her teeth were mighty whites. Almost shocking. I couldn't help but, well, kind of stare. Her little tongue toyed out from behind her painted lips and traced her upper deck. I imagined she was testing to see if she could feel the flaw of lipstick there. Accidently smeared across her platinum pearls.
She fidgeted.

He smiled this huge "I'm not really a Doctor, but I play one in print ads" smile, leaned over the counter, fanning the Patient Sign In list off his imromptu podium and started his speel......

"We're just stopping by this morning to offer you ladies a complimentary day in paradise. Our salon offers solutions to all beauty concerns, an escape from the ordinary, and all in a blissful, all female environment. Our staff is fully licensed and trained and offer the latest in innovative techniques to improve your body and soul. The Perfect Passion offers mud baths, waxings, hair design and coloring, laser and non surgical face and body lifts, passive muscle toning, all in a feminine and friendly environment......"

I smile. Slouch a little more perfectly in my chair. Plop the grafittied cast up on my side of the counter. Chey leans in. Listening. She's always wanted to have her ear fixed, the one with the tear down the center of the lobe, a little reminder that when she was 16 she got in a tiff wearing really, really big hoops.

The "Hi! I just turned 21!" pretty girl to his left fidgets again.... leans in just a little.... and then when he takes the slightest of breaths, she blurts out in a barely-more-than-a-whisper "I just saw Santa Claus" woosh.....

"Ohhhhh....."
"Are you a hippie?"

I smile a little broader.

Handsome one gathers up his glossy print tickets to Paradise, clears his throat, and mutters "You ladies have a nice day" .....

Sheesh......
How do you think they knew?

It must have been the butterfly aura of peace and love that you spread to everyone.

Couldn't be the peace signs within peace signs that cover your cast--a cast that could really be a lone winged boot from a pair, but you don't really need the other if you want to walk on the clouds like you belong there.

Hell, you don't need anything and you do that.

This post is just awesome, Blue Lady. You write so... Spinning in the himalaya all night good

Our book has to be called "A Thousand Summers Of Love"

Or "Spinning In The Himalaya All Night Good"

Tada!

I got my dedicated broadband, no-mercy internet hook-up, finally.

Lets scribble and clink soon!

eric1313 said...

Clink! Clink!

Yeah! I'm so happy for you!

singleton said...

and I was on The Himalaya
going round and round
and faster
with eyes
kissed closed
by the wind
and the noise
and the dark
and
artificial snow...
and where were you?
In the ticket line....
Talking rock and roll with the
roadie
and letting
little kids
go first....

the siren wails
and you jump
the ramp
ticket-taker taken back
and
the ride
begins
again

snowdrift....

eric1313 said...

The sticky summer night feel,
sweating on everyone
and everything...

Cool summer-snowdrifting;
the flakes melt intsantly
on our skin.

Snow goddess flaking out
or so we pretend--
a cool summer
that should never
fly south for the winter;

but it does, it's almost gone.

we pretend because snowangels
look nicer than sweatstains,
but not as fun to make.

and summernight never minds
the difference,
since we let the kids go first
and the rest of the night
is ours...

wings and all.

Those poems would be:
Singleton's
"Spinning In The Hymalaya All Night Good"

and
E1313's
"Thousand Summers Of Love"

The title pieces. Great work, SIngleton.

---
Maybe the front cover should say one of the titles, and the back cover can be a front cover too, only with a different name on it. That would set us way apart!

eric1313 said...

Actually, how about "A Thousand Summers' Love" that would be a whole lotta love all in one sweet sweaty season!

That is cute.

Eric.....And now it's morning and quiet again...and I'm flipping through the pages of a rough draft...up and down and inside and out, and
somewhere in the middle
where the stories meet
on the blue lined pages
is the ocean....
and the words blur together
smudged by the sea
until all that's left to
read
is imaginary
and thats
as good
as it
gets

Clink!

Orhan.....muaaah! Thinkin' bout you while you whirlwind through these busy days!

singleton said...

eric...the army is tired! Honestly, it sort of disappeared, and it's ok, heck, they were wonderful youthful souls spending their week-ends basking in our dreams....And when the ring-leader, beer-runner, sing-songer is piled up, propped up, pilled up....maybe they lost their inspiration....which brings us to today....Do it yourself! So today, the little army of two, which grew into three, then four, begged a pre-hung door out of Lowes for 65 bucks (from 219!) and hung it on it's hinges, put two coats of paint on the naked knock down drywall, tiled the entryway, hung the ceiling fan....And then sat back and clinked! when the moon came out to smile at us! Soon......"Gimme Peace" will be home to a friend......

Skinny.... Gawd, I love you. And it never matters if blogger eats your comments because I KNOW, I feel you, hear you And of course, they're magical.....I remember well the night they were born at a kitchen table long ago...

Peace~love totally

eric1313 said...

You tired now? Do you have the words or magic flowing through your veins.

Eric.... I crashed! Totally! Balancing on one foot painting, tiling, and hauling all day wore my skinny little one out! Magic and all! Here's to a beautiful day, Ma Sun crawled out from behind her lazy covers and is shining already! Peace!

Singleton. A beautiful morning to you, my sweet artist friend, architect of care and mercy to those you claim as your own.

Yes, the Drips poem was itching to go next. I'm trying to post more. Only ten last month? That's awful. Diapearing forever is the only other thing left after that.

And I won't do that. I fianlly found my people after thirty years of searching. Some may think I'm exagerating by saying that, but it's the truth. I feel more welcome on these pages than anywhere else in the world.

Laundry time--talk to you later.

btw

She
Thanks for the vote! This is a very inspirational place filled with good people such as yourself. We just need a book and that will be the success.

A book written on wall of this cosmic studio for stronaut artists like myself.

Be well, Singleton, SLB, Kimbies, She, Gillian, Orhan, Drips, Oceans and all the rest.

Talk to you latter, Blue Lady.

she...come a day, a blue night, when the fair comes to town, we're gonna do it! He blows me away with his uncanny prophetic on-the-fly way with words, turning everyday language into art you could stare out for hours....funny, how we've all met, isn't it?

Eric...Your people were waiting on you all along....And now there's an army....Drips is a beautiful, beautiful poem, I loved it in it's beginnings and now, spray painted on your tree house walls, I wonder, if perhaps we need to build you a bigger house, of endless cards, where the walls go on and on.......

David...I hope so! :)

We made huge progress on the castle in the backyard this week-end...working into the dark both days....(I wonder if the Boss will notice that my cast is covered in paint and drywall?)And I was too damned tired to work it into grafitti! We're hoping to wrap this baby up next week-end and christen it "Gimme Peace" by Sunday!

Glad you commented on that post, it was another vent post again sorry, lol, but that will be my last vent post forever, I can't keep on doing those, lol. :D I don't know I guess i could put it back on, what you think? It really didn't relate with anything on my blog so that's why I took it off, lol, a few people wanted to see what I looked like when I had my long hair and you were the main one who I wanted to see it btw, I just didn't get the chance to tell you before you came on over and saw for yourself, lol. :D

I know I was a cutie pie back then. :D Thanks. Unfortunately my hair isn't that blonde anymore like it used to be. Now it's dirty blonde.

Thanks for the comment, now you know what I looked like when i was a hippie. ;)

Take care now

spongy.....you're so damned cute, you just need to smile....No matter what category they put you in, they're gonna love you!

Mavin....well I have two theories on this kinda stuff....one is a temporary post for the really, really, "I might regret this later, but I just have to say it now" stuff and the other is "just hit send, and let it fly"......Sometimes we post for the world at large, and sometimes for ourselves and sometimes you just have to say it! I haven't found the first thing on your porch that needs to be tucked away....and the pics are priceless....let 'em fly, baby!

Eric....yeah, like the world needed a breather.....a moment to exhale....I conked out early and woke up in revelations....dreaming I had discovered how mermaids were born.....
I watched the most magnificent yellow butterfly ever playing on the ocean....fluttering, skinny- dipping, splashing
and then
roaring waves
with beer foam
tossed her
tumbling
sinking
struggling
in underwater circles
and she batted her wings
so heavy now
and heavier
and
I panicked as
her colors
bled from sunshine to frothy green
and I almost lost her
when a little glint of
orange flickered
like a flame under the
salty green surface
and they were golden gills
growing
and her little body became
the mermaid's fins
and her wings folded
to the side
and the colors ran
as the teeny tiny mermaid
emerged
laughing.....
frolicking.....

I woke up imagining the whole process being recorded by National Geographic......The miracle of birth! Peace~love my wild friend

cre8tiva...so nice to see you, Oh, I have to come over and see how the new homestead is coming! Welcome to our sands!

No camera fish eye lens
can capture her sight;
since no hand of man
can hold the substance.

Her miracle birth,
magic from long ago
ethers boiling, roiling
become today's enchantment.

She brings us full circle
to watch life emerge
from new beginning .

To see it plunge inward,
first down, flameward,
then up to rise on high--

Living
Dieing
death
birth
sun
moon
night
day
lay me low to lie
or tear me from my rusting roots
to show me a joy and a step
and how to float and how to fly.

And what we know and what we love
is not just in the struggle
the bruises, burns, and the fight.

It's the big-as-ocean's-sky-picture,
what even the fish-eye cannot see,
that makes the birth of a mermaid something
unique;
a miracle of luck meant to be
a spirit in transition
a soul who's come to peace with
itself,
and all the other bubbles
that dance to the surface
of this one little glimpse
at a unique and glowing
laughing gift of beauty
and
infinity.

Eric....You saw her, didn't you?
Just as clearly as I did.....
What no lens could ever capture...
freedom
giving way
to freedom growing...
yes, you saw her.....

I'll leave the one up top as a
good draft, since this one, too, isn't a final.

Who knows; we probably have a book already! All these scribblings have parts that could become the next worlds created right here to ponder and imagine. All on the walls unfer fingertip.

How's the foot?

eric1313 said...

I wish I was there. I'd dance with you just standing there in the middle of the dance floor, just talking, thinking, smoking, drinking... clink tinking
and singing from the burning
whiskey, vodka, scotch, jaeger, sevens or cap'ns or long island ice teas. My all time favorite.

We'd dance your good foot right off!

party on the front page,

dancing in the shadows
back a few steps up
away from the folks and the bugs
sitting around the fire
drinking ice cold beers.

The crickets sing and mic jaggers screams his heart out...

and everyone knows
it's a porch party
weekend fling

outside
the banjo strummer alligator
says goodnight with a bow;

a few pages back
the craddle rocks
the voices lie down low;
just for us
the world has stopped.

singleton said...

Stand Alone!

singleton said...

I should have known....the porch light blew out days ago...
and I pouted
and fussed
and no light bulbs anywhere
and a wayward
child
just came stragglin' in
and did what I can't do
balanced on the grafittied
coffee table
and screwed in a WD brand 100 watt
and the
porch is
home
again
and we're drinkin' beer
and clankin'
and the music
drifts through
the tattered screen
and we hear it...
if we want to

eric1313 said...

and when we do
it's always saying that
same wonderful thang...

and the bugs gather at the windows
one lights a glow
a smoke

and we're laughing again
and outside the whole world
was spinning
and everyone saw their own glow

And the fireflies are swarming, lining up in a parade
or that's what we think

eric1313 said...

The window opened and a butterfly monarch

a princes in royal orange and black

lit in and landed on my love
as she slept on my bed
on my arm
it too, is asleep

but I won't wake my love
or bother the butterfly

but later tonight we'll party
and I'll have to raise a toast

to the butterfly princess
who kissed her in her dreams
for me

skinnylittleblonde said...

She apologized for how she said what she said to me... and then essentially repeated it.
It was a friendly gesture.

I'm hearing
drums.....

skinnylittleblonde said...

Love...
He didn't see her..
He tripped, slipped, dipped through the dewy grass
and there she lay.
Her eyelids shuttered like butterfly wings...
there was a party inside her head...

skinnylittleblonde said...

Clink!

singleton said...

And Eric, you forgot about the neighbors, leaning out windows with hairy chests and beer bellies flying, and they can hear us laughing
and we
have to be quiet
in spite
of the
concert
in
the weeds....

skinnylittleblonde said...

Of course you hear drums...you are a soldier!

eric1313 said...

and smile three feet thick
bulletproof rocket eyes open
wide

shooting us a glance

party on the back porch

for all who care to dance in the bayou

singleton said...

clink! clink! clink!
now I'm running,
past the old pick up truck
with the key in the ignition

the solid vinyl seat

and
whispered like a butterfly....
"wanna Party?"

eric1313 said...

dream of sleeping forever
next to a golden butterfly

the music rides on
after we fell over
into it's arms
gold, and flesh and wild night
sweaty glow surounding us

waiting for no tomorrow to dawn
without you
I'll learn to fly
give me on last chance
to let the dream ride

eric1313 said...

she shrugs off the effort as nothing

she tells us, 'for her, it's easy to fly"

and flutter me, like that, I wish

but I cannot

flutter my arms

but they are not wings as her's

so I use words to reach her

in her sky

singleton said...

And when she dreams,
she listens,
and hears a lullabye...
and the lyrics
are
watercolored
in the sky

a dimestore palette...
primary colors
dripping
mixing
blending
fading
until
they meet the ocean....

When she wakes,
she's drenched in the sunlight and
wearing
pastels.....

I just read through everything here and laughed my skinny butt off.

Damn... So much fun--then and now, alone as I am, but feelin' the love.

Hope you did and Skinny did too.

And Kimbies. And Ronnie. and everyone else we know, past, present future.

Hey there friend,

Wanted to tell you I was thinkin of this fantastic story today. I got a little gastro last night - nothing exciting - just a bit of 'extra toilet time' and needed the day off work. So I went to see the family practitioner. I was dressed like a vagrant, ive got to admit, hadnt shaved, and with my features no one can tell if im from africa, asia or the middle east anyway.
So i popped in to the reception desk and there was a very prim and proper lady about 5ft tall, with a british accent, spectacles and tight 'golden' curls in her hair (When i say gold i mean the kind you buy at the chemist).
I told her my name - and she said 'I will need to see some identification'. I showed her my drivers license and she said 'look you will need to take that out of your wallet sir so i can peruse it' - Peruse it??? lol anyway i tried to take it out but it was stuck - so i said 'sorry but its stuck you'll have to look at it in the wallet itself' - She said "Absolutely not", anyway finally got the license out and then she said i need your medicare card. "Forgot it, sorry " I replied. Then she raised her voice while still managing to keep her lips pursed and said 'the next time you do not bring your medicare card and every instance thereafter you will have to pay full fees!!!" - I said 'I assure you i know that as i am a doctor myself'. As if she had been injected by botox at that very moment her face softened, and with a smile she said "Could i offer you a tissue sir?"

Lol :) Was thinkin of your story.

Lots of love, M

I wonder if there'll ever be an end to discrimination? I hope so.
