The butterfly effect.....

It started with the coffee pot. $21.95 at Winn Dixie. I don't even like brewed coffee. I like mine strong, one cup at a time in the microwave, or so hot they could-sue-you at McDonalds, but I was there in the check out line....and it was on display....and the freeze dried bag of beans on display next to it, smelled so good....

I plugged it in, and stuffed the basket with coffee, filled the retainer with water and stared at it. When would I hit the button? 8 cups of coffee registered on the little resovoir reading. Good to go.... In case I ever needed to make coffee for an army....

It was that night, that we hit send. In the kitchen, Chey and the stranger I'd known forever, laughing. That night that it percolated, gurgled, giggled, french toasted us....that night the silly coffee pot and three cups left in the sink told our fortunes....one empty.....two half full.....

It died in November. The countertop brewery that I never wanted in the first place...spit water on the counter and choked on it's own coffee grinds. And I cried. I know it's silly, but I thought in it's going, it was symbolic. I paced. Pined for the taste of my good ole instant Maxwell House. And paced.

Walgreens is open 24 hours. I came home with the only little baby I could afford, a four cup (two at my house) miniature model of all before it.....

Tomorrow I'm throwing it out.

I don't drink alone....

Theres a difference
between
a mermaid
and a coffee pot.

One is transitory as the
coffe beans that it grinds.

The other as immortal
as powerful
as the infinite ocean.

You are loved

You are perfect my friend.

Sending butterflies, M

Clink!

There's a vision: A mermaid sitting at the bar amongst empty bottles, vessels and coffee cups.

Waiting on free refills.

Or maybe...

Two mermaids.

But that's just me.

Clink ya two times, friend. Bless you for all the support and the kind words that you can offer.

My sister has one of those little ones, and she yells at me when I drink "all" the coffee.

I think I shall get her one like your old one.

You begin and end posts with such punches.
Loved the description of how you like your coffee, and what tends to go with your coffee!

I feel your pain. As a coffee/caffiene addict myself I can't get through my day without a minimum of 3 long blacks. Wow, that could so be taken the wrong way ;)

I'm karmically inclined
to need a party pot!

Eric...Ha! That's not a vision, silly poet, that's called "in your dreams!" LOL! Wishing you peace, my friend, and healing in your world....Soft clink!

Scott....see what I mean? It's not socially open armed....it karmically limits the possibilities of one cup, two, and "more please..." Yup, get her one!

karma....TY sweetie! And it's what goes with the coffee I miss the most!

Orhan....the language of addicts! But the strange thing is yes, I have to have, want it, can taste it before it's finished....but what I miss the most is the clankin' of cups.....:)

Persichetti....And wasn't it you and I in pajamas at Dunkin Donuts, standing in the night before line with the morning after people? LOL! Much love!

Awwwwhhhh... don't you just hate it when you symbolize EVERYTHING? ... but, it's reality, we can't NOT. Smart lady, you are... in tune. Think on this... it is a new coffee pot, afterall... don't throw it away, just get a bigger cup to drink it from :) And when another 'what you drank it with' makes it's presence known, you can share, cause you'll have plenty to share!

I have some nice dreams, thank you very much.

Hope you're around later. Porch partying is imperative if I am to live another week.

kj....I'll take you up on that! (Actually I like my Maxwell house instant! The java in the pot is Yuban Dark Roast and that just happens to be because I like the warm rich colors of the can! Ta! Dah!

She.....See? You know what I mean!

Shimmerings...See? You know, too! And I really don't throw anything away and buy very little, so I guess this little baby will go to someone at Christmas and I'll stand around eagerly waitin' on someone to pass their ole morning love to me.....And of course, it means something....If you don't open the windows, you can't light the sunshine in, if I only have a coffee pot big enough for one, well,....you know what I mean! :)

Eric....LOL! And you're welcome very much! And it is absolutely imperative that you live another week!

Rachelle.....(((((Happy Holidays))))....Oh, it's so nice to hear from you.....Clink'in ya back!

Coffee, the elixir of life for some. I usually manage about three cups a week. But then there was Monday, when I had to pull an all-nighter for a presentation on Tuesday. Ten PowerPoint slides. Eleven cups of coffee. That's a cup-to-slide ratio of 1.1, friends. Needless to say, I was shaking so much, I imagined teenagers were going to come into the darkened room to dance to the light show I made out of keeping the laser pointer steady. Never again.

skinnylittleblonde said...

oh...what I'd do for a cup of joe right now! Glad you went out Sister! ILY!

Eric....
the embers were glowing,
a thousand wolf eyes in the forest,
and I watched,
listened,
to the fire
dying....
When I woke up,
it was cold....
but in the sunlight
I saw the footsteps....

Electric.....Oh Lord, I hate when that happens! The heebie jeebies! OK, so you shook through the show, but did it go ok? :)

Skinny....I kissed the sky for you sweet child! And if the room were roofless, I'm sure I could have seen the stars winkin' back at me! ILYSVVM! And btw I hope you pulled right into Micky D's and got your fix!

Mindy....Could you share?:)

Footsteps stitched a thread
from the water to the fire
leading
to a city of gold
a fountain of youth
amber glossed lips
cracked and dry and
stone cold in love

Footsteps stitched a thread
from the water to the fire.
Everyone knows it
but only two
really know.

And every step
taken
tiptoed
raced in the night
chinese jumproped
through
stories
and childhoods
and meant to be moments....

left a shadow
in the leaves,
golden and
spirited,
a hundred lives long....

Ask the sun....
She knows....

Poignant coffee story.

Holy crap. I have never lost a coffee pot to natural causes. I have led a sheltered life. I'm so sorry. Taster's Choice sits standby in my cupboard, just in case. And I will call you for some handholding should mine go down.

Sigh.....

And the drip goes on.
And the drip goes on....
