Cinderella, and then some....

"You gonna sit with me for New Year's?"
"Course I am"
"Dressing up again?"
"Yeah"
"Did you already get your dress?"
"Yup"

"Is it long?"
"Mmmmm....hmmmmmm"
"Pretty, huh?"
"Mmmmmm...hmmmmm"

"You wearing those boots?"
"Yup"
"With your dress?"
"Yup"
"Are you kidding?"
"Nope"

"Okay"
"Okay"

"Can I have the first dance?"

singleton, i don't know if it's too late, but i don't think it is:

writer's digest has a contest for short stories--1500 words or less.

you might check it out, given your sweet little talent in this area...

:)

Cute. Loved the monosyllabic responses: "mmmm", "yup", "nope"...

Where'd you get the picture? It's supremo!

See you at 'peace...

eric1313 said...

See you at the bar, in that case...

I give up. Where is the real time clink! coming from? I'm just a silly poet... don't mess with me...

girl, short stories don't have to be fiction. and if you don't know you can write short stories, you are in deep denial.

it's not fair to let your modesty (or, of course, fear of failure)get in the way.....

(huge smile)

Drips....
Thank you, sweet friend. And as I said to you, your paintings tell a thousand stories, roar out loud....
the color, the soul, the spirit....
told from within and shared....
You're beautiful!

Karma....If I had hidden a tape recorder in my jean's pocket, I couldn't have captured this conversation closer.....My friend and I......and the newly beloved construction boots! Peace~love, girl!

SweetSpongy...yup up! Love ya,man!

Indigo....Doc Martens? Hey, do they look like my construction boots? I've been through go-go boots, thigh highs, knee highs, patent leathers, cowboy boots, and now these......? I'm lovin' it! My brown spanish lace and these bonkers! We're gonna have a blast! :)

KJ....Bless you, sweet girl. I did bop it up on the internet and I swear it said "fiction".....Do you really think it's ok to submit a short with nouns as verbs and verbs as nouns and nonsensical punctuation? I love to write, but just like my drawings, I wasn't taught, and don't know the rules.... just love the flow!

Eric....It's dead cowboy time! Clink ya!

clink! I'm at the bar, putting them down as we speak.

hahaha! i don't know the rules either, singleton! but i do know you can write. i only hope i can too!

getting published is like the dating scene: you've got to expect rejections--could take a 100 before you find "the one", but you and i can handle that, most of the time, can't we?

you know the lesson already: you can't win the lottery if you don't buy the ticket.

i think you should...

karoline....you sweet, sweet girl! I've been on the porch for months now, watching the world go by and throwing kisses at the wind....Gonna start hiking with these babies on.....Comin' round your mountain! Missed you, too!

Merisi....Oh, I'm so glad you stopped by, the porch lights always on....I'll come clompin' over to visit soon....just pardon me if I leave really big footprints!

Dear Singleton,

I read this after what we affectionately call a 'psycho shift' where we're the only doctor on for 14 hours in hospital...

Id spent the day discussing the merits of draining a haemopneumothorax, and decompressing bowel obstructions.

I came to the computer at shifts end... and sat down to these words and picture...

and in my mind i heard...

'Now lemme tell you a story about a man named jed... poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed..."

Well you know the rest... And i was suddenly a dancing hillbilly,

Laughter and light suddenly tiptoein where tiredness should be draggin his feet,

Thank you my friend for arrangin this 'trade',

You are perfect.

Love to you, ;) M

Maithri....I've never understood that hospital logic....run the doctors ragged.....send the nurses out sleeping on their feet....Don't even get me going on those endless shifts....when your mind and heart and bedside manner are suppose to survive and thrive into the next time zone.....
Bless you sweet friend.....
Here's to dancin' hillbillies and the sillies.......
Smile!

Ibeati.....:) yup!
