Red Velvet Cake...

“Have you ever been in love before?” he asked me, knowing full well, I was old….

And so I answered him,
With the tell-tale truth…
“yes….
Once….
A very long time ago,
And forever”

We were sitting at the leather chair,
Me curled up, winter style , wrapped in the arms
And cushions.

Him, perched,
Visitor-like,
On the ottoman….
Blue eyes Morse coding…

“I wanna be him” he said….
“Who?” I whispered at the walls,
Twirling my hair in tiny spirals….

“Him. The one you’ve loved forever”

And I gave him that. That free for all, that tumbling, take-me-there.

But I believe In addendums…
So I hope he doesn’t think I wasn’t telling the truth,

I just changed my mind….

The beauty of your writing is there is always that bit of mystery...wanting more to understand fully...but not needing anything more because I'm already there.

she...oh sweetie, thank you, but it's just the way it happened in real life....there are no other words to tell the story....

shrink....And if I live long enough, I'll go there again and again....:)

No...Thank you for your beautiful words...and for understanding...

how ironic that you would post this today, sister...we are ever-so-kinetically-connected... this morning I heard a deep, distant voice close to my heart ... 'we have the love of a lifetime'
Sometimes alone, yet never quite lonely...i love you girl!

I can't imagine you NOT in love with something at anygiven moment.

slb...must be the moon! I've had heartfelt kitchen table talks for hours now, with someone closed, afraid to share, to love, to gamble...because the end is near....And I've confessed, told, because you know that's what I do, that "the love of a lifetime" is sometimes fleeting....forever can be a very very short time.....And yet, it goes on and on and on...

scott....I was in love with him. And probably will be forever. I just changed my mind.....Has abolutely nothing whatsoever to do with my heart. You've come to know me well...

i want my love of a lifetime to be forever, to not be fleeting, to be the roller coaster that it is, to be unable to change my mind.

i know i am pushing the envelope labeled "attachment", but destiny made me do it.

and, singleton, no nailed the mystery of your writing. on the pin-head!!!

Being in love sucks when the being you're in love ain't in love with you.

beautiful...memories... I was old and he was a guitar player... and he had those blue eyes morse coding...

KJ...Yes, I agree...We all want the magic to sweep us into forever...but, really the only days we're guaranteed are those behind us ,the ones in the rearview mirror....the gifts we've already opened. Tomorrow is hope and dreams, yesterday a priceless memory...
Wishing you dreams come true!

Ultra....:)When Love sucks, it's time to move on down the road! Or as the old saying goes...."When one door closes......

"Always keep them guessing,"
said one goddess
of my checker-bordered
black and white and black again past--
her smile kept me guessing
until I could venture
no more to the realm
of her other-world charm.

"Keep the mystery alive..."
ahe said, lightinng a candle
a whisp of curling smoke
drifting between smiles
reminding the both of us
that we-so-alone never are
for spirts live in fire of all kinds,
released by a spark
that will never be extinguished.

"Let them down slowly,"
she knew this to be true,
and always did just so--
as the delusion only flares
brighter, higher, hungrier,
when one tries to quench the blaze
of desire in the eyes of a fanatic.

"Love can change everything,"
even its mind, its path
a carrousel one trick pony
answering the mystery
the guesses and cries
and let us down so slow
we sleep before we hit
the cold, wet ground
of heaven below the clouds.

Eric....I'm here in real time, and I'm blown away, by every word, every line, "in black and white and black again"....I could have a million things to say about this poem, each line, each word,
but
that's just me....
you need to hit Publish....
this is profound...
"a carousel one trick pony".....

Peace~love, my friend, I've missed you

Eric...sorry, I was on The Dunes....and you should, you write from a place that other's can't tap, but can feel, see, hear....
Share, baby....
This one will be a "guitar gently weeping"....

These words are fire
hypnotizing
luring
beckoning,

And the circle will lean
in,
faces to the flames
watching
the ghoststory
"released by a spark"....

I'm taping pictures to it as we speak, flipping back and fourth to keep track of you. Saw your muse at butterfly bar, and I'll be there, too, put something on the wall tonight.

Give me about ten minutes.

And I'll catch up with you at the dunes.

Thank you so much. Did you comment? Blogger eats them if someone is commenting at the same time. That's what I read, anyway.

We've been wondering why blogger eats comments, and now we know. Good writing makes the machine awfuly hungry.

singleton said...

It wouldnt even let me open the comment box, I zapped right over there, and thats probably meant to be, because I might ramble on forever....

But hell, I'm gonna try it again!

That's my hippie! Thanks for satisfying my comment-fetish.

And by all means...

"Ramble on!
I know the time
the time is now--

Sing my song,
I'm goin round the world
gonna find my girl

On my way--
I'v been this way
ten years to the day

I gotta ramble on
gotta find the queen
of all my dreams"

You probably believed it yourself. Or wanted to.
Then you knew.
And you couldn't make it the truth.
Cause the truth always lurks around the corner...
Showing it's pretty head.

It's good to catch up with you
my breathless friend

the wind will catch you
should ever you fall down
in the glittering haze

the stars coming down
to this lonely, dark earth
for one night to burn

eternal,
ethereal,
ours--
fireflies from heaven
dragon flies who live
by the flicker of their light

singleton said...

Blue....I believe in fairytales, and martini moons,
one eyed cars,
and meant-to-be's,
and every moment in between....
And it was wonderful....
I just changed my mind!
Clink! ya, girl!

Thanks for the positive thoughts on a night when I needed them.

As always, a friend is the best life rope possible when the seas kick up rough out of the blue.

Peace and love.

And get some sleep, Singleton. We need you rested up.

And this post was awesome. I'm sure you didn't need me to say that explicitly--the poem said it all.
