Tides....

The moon was nothing more than a pale green lady, her face thinly veiled; a woman in mourning. The few stars that climbed out of bed for the funeral were sleepy, lazy, and cast no more than candlelight on our procession. But they watched. As they always do....

And the ocean roared, flapped her frothy wings furiously at the shore, the rocks, anything in her way; spitting at our feet. She had come for us....

"Shhhhhhh" he whispered, throaty from too many late night cigarettes..
"Listen"......

I couldn't see his lips, but tasted the words, salty feathers moving slowly up and down my own.

"This is what we heard".....
"yes"
"That night".....
"yes"

We held hands tighter, our fingers chained this time,

and
simply
walked back into the water....

Back into the mother ocean, love diving deeper still.

New friend, your writing is so responsive and acuostic. It has waves, it has soul and they meet perfectly in words and images.

I was seeing a new painting of the green veiled lady with the full moon halo, like Byzantine stained glass. Very strong images.

but I remember this painting, too. The toes feel what we don't see for cover or wave.

Have fun with your sun.

Sister...this is simply BEAUTIFUL!

eric.."like Byzantine stained glass", yes, I'd like that very much...capturing the moment, the sound, the soul.....And suspending it safely, forever, where when the sun shines through, it all comes flooding back....

I wish I could paint pictures. I would. But I paint words, instead, and give them freely for the benefit of the creative process, to clear the way for the next thougth to pull into the station, the whistle mourns in the distance, just before the day breaks. What a picture

I love when you write of the water...It makes me want to leave many things behind and just go....

you write about mystery uniquely and well. there is always missing information that you trust the reader to uncover and know.

clink clink singleton. another A-.

eric313 said...

that's exactly what you do. My prof always said "don't do all the work for the reader". You gotta leave some ambiguity. But I think their all clear, as well. Glad to say hello to a friend on a lovely evening such as this. clink

bardouble....And I always "want to leave many things behind and just go...."...

kj...thank you. Funny, it's not in the telling that's been mysterious to me, but in the living. And I wouldn't trade a moment of it...

eric...you do paint pictures with your words, vibrant moving pictures...rollercoasters for the spirit!
Peace friend

At one, once again, with each other and the divine ebb and flow of Poseidon's pulsing waves . . .

to be children of blue ocean,
who splash, run and laugh
through the hot sands,
words our footprints
trailing behind
love's long-legged stride,
splashing
running
laughing

the waves cover
all by nightfall
distant fires speak
our own desire to
leave everything
in the care
of caressing
curious hands
and her wet warmth
washing over us
turning sin to sweet wine
and we are drunken fools
children of the sea
rolling over and over
on the white sands

clink.
to your ocean

Have you read Kate Chopin's The Awakening? This story gives me a sense of the ending, only with a happier feel.

Glad you liked both! I'll do something with the one up there, too. Inspiration. Drunken fool of love rolling forever on the sands.

Evocative. There's something about the water, especially the ocean. Has lots of "moods."
