The Crying Moon

"Watch your step" he bellowed as I threw one clutsy foot out of the truck door...the second fringed moccasin hit the parking lot floor before I could quip over my shoulder "I know"....

Of course he knew I wouldn't remember to be careful...
couldn't,
it's not in my nature....
And before landing at our last stop,
I parachuted out the door
and landed in a pile of pick up sticks on the gravel driveway.

He cringed. I laughed. And we called it a night.

In the morning, black and blue, and hobbling yet again, I remembered falling in slow motion... the click clack of the door opening, the billowing waves of wind as my ruffled and crumpled skirt sailed behind me, the smile creeping up fast, frozen laughter captured in polaroid color, right before I hit the ground.

In the morning I remembered,
that sometimes,
I just like to fall....

Face first into the moment.
Kiss the gravel goodnight.
Take chances.

And sometimes,
I skin my knees.

It was a crying moon,
And I could have cried,
but it wasn't in my nature.....

I needed to save that for a day I was steady on my feet....

Sometimes it's hard to see where we may land ourselves when we live with our heads in the clouds and our feet on the ground and we suddenly look down. There's something disorienting about that looking down part.
So last night as I traipsed thru my freshly, twice mowed field of weeds out back to gather the sticks I had tossed together, I stepped too quickly and in a pivoting way at the top of the hill. Down I went and in the wet clippings I slid good...leaving my rump with some of the prettiest grass stains a kid could ever want.
At the end of my slide, I heard the new folks on the corner call out 'Howdy Neighbor. You Alright?' and I smiled.

Ahhh, sweetsister Love~ 4 weeks to the day, the moment...I can hear the sound of the tires crunching the coquina drive~way, the salty wind kissing us hello....I can't wait! And all this reminds me of that first crash, that first free fall...crumpled and landing in a heap at the foot of fate and love...

And that is what I love about you dear friend, that you continue to pick yourself up and smile and you are willing to take that next step towards whatever may come:) Have fun this year at the beach! We will be in NYC for much of the summer visiting the much missed family, but I will be thinking of the sand, the sun and the spirit that is with you and yours!

Persichetti...Ahhh, have fun girl! We will be thinking of you and your beautiful child...And clinking you in the wind. We're counting days til we're there again, tattered little fortune tellers folded in our pockets, sun on our nose and sand on our toes!

Ibeati...I was so sorry to hear about your little friend. My heart goes out to you.

Much Peace to all...
