Martini Moon

Dusk. The muddy waters lapping the right side of the highway, slapping sloppily at the seawall. I shifted gears and rounded the curve, closer to the bridge, closer to home and then I saw it.....

The blue moon in the indigo sky. And one star. Fiery. Blazing. A tiny slice of yellow, a twisted lemon peel, lay at the bottom of the moon.

And I knew.

Keeper.

I am so sorry sib! I was logged into JustGiveMePeace so I could upload some pics & then bounced over here before logging out. eke!
I really do love this post...I have seen the moon like that...with a shiny star seeming to be dipping in dance with the moonbeams. Just beautiful.

JW once told me that when he looks at the moon it makes him feel closer to me because he knows that wherever I am & wherever he is, the moon still smiles on both of us.

I remember once sitting in the gravel lot of Amtrak staring at the moon with you...many, many moons ago.

I happened on your blog and loved that the post I landed on was about the moon. I never get tired of it, in any of its stages. A keeper indeed.

Clink! To the martini moon

Your glasses tip
filled, empty--
filled again and
repeat

Libations of her soul's honey
drunk--spirits soar--

She winks her eye at you
only when it's late

You only know
that a smile in the dark
has got to be real
she knows this, too

even after
the glasses
are empty

You love her

and soon
that martini moon
and shot glass
will be full.

You look at her
and think
she's a miracle
and soon enough,
she is.

salute!
