I've watched the mailbox for days. I knew it was coming. Everynight I've emptied the leaning, rusting, box at the end of the driveway, thumbed through bills, and bills, and bills, and "why don't you buy me's?", waiting on this.....
The Christmas card from the baby with the old soul....
One World
One Word
Peace.....
It came today....
May the circle be unbroken...

Dear Singleton,
There was a man named Arthur stace,
he lived in Sydney... He was a homeless man, illiterate, an alcoholic...
One day he was walking past a church and heard the preacher say "Eternity, Eternity... Oh that this word could emblazoned across the streets of Sydney."
So for the next forty years, while Sydney slept... Arthur stace would roam the streets with a peace of yellow chalk... and write the word Eternity... in perfect copperplate handwriting... on the sidewalk... on the entrance to trainstations... on the parliament steps...
For forty years, people questioned who this "Eternity angel" was...
At the melllenial moment, In the year 2000 - The word Eternity was written in fire into the sydney harbour bridge... in that same copperplate... to remember the dream of one homeless angel.
When I read your words...
An image comes to mind
of men, women,
children
of every race, religion, sexuality, social status,
going out into the world
and writing the
name of peace...
a thousand, million times over...
across the tender face of the earth
This is the dream that breaks and mends my heart.
You are the light dear Singleton,
Love and peace, Maithri
that photo is magnificant.
of course i want to know more....
:)
And just like that, the circle may bend, may twist into figure eights, sixteens, thirty-twos, but will not break.
Because we say so...
Because you know...
I hope everything works out.
And I hope you are well.
Just sifting through the debris right now. Glad to have your words and wishes with me.
Talk to you soon.
Peace and love.
The light of the east
rose after the decade
of darkness called
ever night
The light of the sun
like a candle
in the firm hand of god
tells me
that though nothing is
permanent
nothing is perfect
nothing is sacred
except
what we hold most holy
on our heart's heart
that everything
will be reborn
everything is a circle
everything is the circle
everything will be again
and we will hold on
for the cosmic tilt-a-whirl
the threepenny dance
dime store necklace of azure glass
the light of the east
born from the womb of the night
the circle is complete
and true as first light
Some of us live like princes, some of us live like queens
Most of us live just like me and we don't know what it means
To take our place in one world
To have our say in one world
If you ain't got two words to say then I can't talk to you
No use crying, there's been no crime, I say it's just the way the wind blows
Just the name of the game,
the way of the world
Maithri.....
I love, love, love that story. And with a piece of chalk, the butterfly changed the face of history for eternity....to this day, in those places where they emblazed his copperplate forever, people will cross it, wonder it, take home his story....his gift....
And so we dream...
May the new year bless us all, one step, voice, breath closer to peace.....
And like Arthur Stace, may we never tire of dreaming.....
Peace~love my friend

Eric....
"everything is a circle
everything is the circle
everything will be again
and we will hold on
for the cosmic tilt-a-whirl"
And there it is...
the perfect circle,
round, but not,
everychanging,
but never broken....
Peace~love my friend, for these days, and all that are yet to come...
Sean....
yes, most of us are just people, and our voices will barely be heard....
a whisper in the wind....
but still we whisper...
peace~love
" and let it begin with me "

I can see you leaning against that old mailbox... in the dust of the mailtruck. Good to know there are folks like you that never give up!
Old souls send the best cards.
To the best people.

I've received five Christmas cards from home so far, five beautiful folded paper hopes and wishes. Once I'm back home, I hope to get the same from new friends on this side of the Atlantic.
