I'm old now....

And I revel in it...

My skin is saggy, a little loose,
and Mick Jagger and I have a lot in common....

I finally have a beer belly.
A pudge.
A little love handle, or two.
I can still suck it in, but rarely remember to.

I snore.

Loudly.

Or so I'm told.

And I'm my Nana's grandchild.

I can't see to put on make~up, and didn't wear it when I could.
I only date men who are as blind or half again as I am.
And in our blurred up, trailing world, where oak leaves are green smears in the sky, and clouds are marshmellows....
I'm beautiful.

Or so I'm told.

The music comes on and I shimmy.
I swirl.
I twirl.
I pretend I'm a barefooted ballerina making love to the Blues.
I'm 17 again....
barefooted,
and tipsy,
barely balanced on Chris's coffee table.

One day I'll fall off, and break a hip...

Break the magic...

But until then,
I'm old...
and
Loving it....

I believe in butterflies and beer.

I love it. Honest and funny and slightly raw all at once.

I knew you'd get old before too long. I've been waiting. I've been old for so long, I don't even remember being young!
Say, now that you're old, like me, think we can, you know, me and you, be friends? And seal it with a little smooch?
What a fantastic circle we're traveling in.

Peace.

Join the club! Loved this post (saw it at Kj's). Just so you know that we still have it (whatever "it" was), I'm going to the new, remade, stage production of "Hair"! I'm getting a program signed for my granddaughter and am going to give it to her for Christmas - along with my old peace sign necklace. It's time for them to carry on. I can't do the sit in anymore - bad hips!

Take it, run with it, revel in it. Oldness rocks. If only I knew this sooner:)

Sweetspado...

LOL! I remember being old when I was young...and being young when I was old...this is a first for me...just being comfy cozy its~ok OLD! It's like flannel pajamas, hand~me~down jeans, movie theatre popcorn...
it's like coming home....

and btw...while I've been growing old, a lot has changed, it took me 15 f'n' minutes to find my blog after I logged in!

Linda...OMG! You're going to see Hair, down to here, down to there! How so very very awesome...And share those peace signs, girl, pass them on...the only thing I have to leave my children, my grandbabies is the belief in peace...and I hope to God, it's the greatest gift of all!

Muah to KJ..always:)
