Swimmin' with frogs....

I scooched down the ladder, one step... two...third's a charm....and plowed into the pretend ocean, water streaming past my face, Christmas tinsel in the sun. God, I love this pool!

The yellow raft bobbed, up and down. Suddenly splashed, it looked like a radiator gurgling in the summer heat...steam rising, bubbles popping. I reached for it, ready to plop my Saturday skin in it's arms. Then she croaked. Made this funny tweaky sound. And I saw him. The frog. "Shooooooo!" I fussed. He looked at me and croaked. "Arrrrrrggggh" I gently lifted the raft over the edge of the pool, pinned the edges to the tidy whitey clothes line that hangs like a broken power line over the lazy round river and let the yellow mattress blow in the wind, it's bottom sweeping the grass....."Shooooo, little one" I whispered. He croaked again. "Come on bud, I made you a ladder and everything"..... He croaked.

I swam that day. No floating. I gave in and let him sit perched on my vinyl dream, staring at me.

Yesterday I woke up to a sea of tadpoles, splashing, swimming, playing follow the leader, dip and dive, "Look, Ma, Look!" in my little round river.....

Maithri.....LOL! What sent me flyin' outa the pool was when my sunglasses slipped off my love beads, and went floating~snaking down to the bottom, I just felt them brush my leg and just caught them from the corner of my eye and I was outa there! Snake! Snake! Ewwwwwwwwwwww! Much love, my friend.

Babs....Ha! Well, let's put it this way....I don't wanna do it again! One tadpole party week-end was enough for me! :)

Peace~love and This land is my land!

Oh, that is just too funny... no wonder she wouldn't get out, she was a lady in waiting of the highest order... are ya gonna let'em stay? We have a crazy bird that keeps trying to build a nest in the front grate of the truck. He takes the straw out, she puts it back in. Nothing seems to caller stronger than motherhood. You're such a kind human being :)

Tadpole, tadpole in the pool,
This goes against Pool Mother's rule,
You can't use my round ocean for your crib,
We're floatin' today and eatin' ribs.

Thank you for saving the day!!! It was a lot of fun.

Hmmmmm....I would've run screaming from the water. And never would've gone back! Gives me the shivers thinking of the tadpoles and the frog....

That frog looks like he's baked...maybe he was floating around the pool, sippin' on some of your Mich Lights while you were workin' ... just waiting for the ribs & slaw.

Oh sweet Shimmerings....I hope your little birdy finds a condo she likes better than the truck grill to camp out on! Our little homesteaders didn't fare so well. Seems they were nested on that yellow raft, in the rain puddles between the waffles.....once they ventured into the big blue sea, the chlorine didn't treat them so well. It's sad, because only a stone's throw away from the pool is a wishing pond.....no chlorine, no pump.....and the neighbors and I have fed a zillion babies to biggies from there. Wishing you and your little ones peace, and nests in high places!

Lovemesong....:) Tadpoles and heatstrokes, We rock! May the circle be unbroken!

Ibeati....More pics soon! Computer was struck by lightening last week, and since it's been home again, we're having to shut it down almost every afternoon~eve for these famous Florida storms! He's up to 12 1/2 pounds! Too cute!

karma....LOL! I took a deep breath, remembered every river, lake, wave, mudpuddle I've ever splashed in, danced in, laughed in....and ta!dah! Swimming with frogs!

Skinny...you noticed that, too! You should have seen his face lookin' at me lookin' at him. Like, "It's my party and I'll stay if I wanna"! ILYSVVM!

Peace~love and
It's rainin' frogs

This reminds me of those hot cloudy days of summer, friends and I crouching over the pond down by the bamboo forest at the bottom of our street, gazing at the miracle of life sprouting fully formed in the guise tadpoles making the water vibrate. So long ago.

PS: 'Saturday Skin' sounds like a great name for a spin-off blog.

Electric....I have a wishing pond at my front door. I dug it one hot summer and poured lumpity lumps of homemade concrete to build it's walls. My babies and i collected our favorite trinkets and sunk them into the walls, the bottom, the edges hanging onto earth....hot wheel cars, dice, pennies, nickels, dimes, peace signs, fishing lures, keys, soup spoons, anything that caught our fancy.....
And then we filled it full of water and waited....
Every year it fills with rain water, and oak and magnolia leaves, pennies from visitors, and then come~a~day....tadpoles.....

We feed them breadcrumbs and velveeta cheese and they make enough racket in their teenage hood to put the boys on the block to shame....

Sometimes, I sit with on the little tiled "sitting block" and read.....toes buried in their world...

And they kiss me! Tickle my toes...

And then they grow up and leave....
Find their own wishing ponds....
