Rest in Peace.....

In the beginning, we were newbies. I remember where we sat and what I wore. The songs the band played. The wig Ms. Betsy had on. I smiled. Tapped my tennis shoed foot on the floor and finally, solo-d it on the dance floor. Kevin joined me. He couldn't hear the music and he couldn't introduce himself. We had to scooch really close to the drums before he smiled. He had to write his name on a napkin before I smiled. He couldn't hear. He couldn't speak. But, by God, he could feel it....

52 Fridays times two plus some have passed. I've barreled through the doors in cowboy boots, combat boots, barefooted. I've hugged people, kissed people, and just once.....slapped a wayward soul. I've slow danced, low danced, fast danced, no~touch danced.....held my lighter to the sky, my bottle to the heavens, and held my breath. I've fallen in love, met angels and demons, and family here. I've come through the painted door high on martini moons, wild from full moons, and tiptoed through no moons. I've been free here.

On Friday I knew.....

Ran my fingers down the painted front door and scrunched my nose up to the make believe speak easy.....

And made my entrance fit for an exit.....

Rumors.....

You never know what to believe.....

No!
They can't be closing,,,where will we go on Fridays if this home away from home isn't here?

In days of old,,my 'ol haunt was a place called "Mother's".
When it closed, we all moved to a place called "First and Last Chance"
But it was never quite the same.
Time boogies on,,,,as do we.

Baby Love is laughing at us,,he knows so much more than he's telling. Holding out, as they often do, until we're ready to understand.
And who else would think to carve peace into a hunk of watermelon?
Love it!

That sucks big time,

But then I know...

That a dancer will always
find a song,
A place to be free...

I can see it sparklin in little baby love's eyes....

That "Something goods gonna happen" feelin...

Peace is always lookin for a new door to walk through...

All she needs is an ole piece of watermelon...

And she'll make fire,

My love to you freedom dancer,

M

Sweet Babs.....
Our little corner bar has been an Icon in this town forever, a little decrepit, a dusty haven for friends and strangers.....But times are bad....and three bartenders, five band members, two waitresses and the Mama's make their livin' there....swishin' drinks, spinning stories, and singin' songs.....It's not long.....so the circle scooches in closer...and lights a candle. Even in the going, those walls hold my heart....
It was there that I found freedom, rekindled,
and open armed....
that I remembered....
the butterflies.....

LOL! That was my Friday night dinner, and as soon as I started digging in, scooping with the Italian spoon, watermelon candy....I knew.....!

Peace~love my friend

May the circle be unbroken.....growing, changing, moving down the road.....the most important thing is that we don't lose each other....That's what I'm cheering for!
And Baby Love's laughter....that happened over and over and over again Saturday to the tune of......
"Hey, hey, hey Goooood Loookin'...
Watcha got cookin?
How's about cookin somethiin' up with me?" Priceless!
Eric....Clink! We can only guess. Rumors...you never know what to believe! Wishing him well from all of us, and peace, most especially, peace!

Maithri....
Sweet Friend, you know I know you know....
Peace is a window....
And butterflies are free!
Sometimes, it's just
the slightest breeze that sends us on a journey,
changes the tides,
the shore,
the skyline...
And lemme tell you, that watermelon, round and ripe
and ice cold,
each slice was like
heaven....
the first piece of bubble gum I ever chewed,
the coldest margarita.....
Tonight I shared the last of it, the little round coconut bowl with a friend,
two spoons in,
clinking in the middle!
Peace is where we find it! Perfect!

She...
I know you know...The only time is now. We have to breathe it in, embrace it, scan the sidelines for every nearly missed memory....24 hours a day, 7 days a week chock full of five o clock traffic, 1-800 bill collectors on the caller ID, Murphy's law....and squeezed in between in the damndest places are tiny little fragments of "keepers"....Moments that could change the world as we know it forever....We can't take anything for granted.....less we miss the gift....

KJ....Yeah, another "Turn the page".....Time to dim the lights and spin.....

Peace~love my friends....
Believe in that.....

It's all Rumors, entertainment for when there's nothing better to do...5 bands later, 20 waitresses later and 15 years later...don't believe everything you hear ;)

perfect song for that little man Hey Good Lookin- I used to sing "bringing home a baby bumble bee to my son- won't the daddy be so proud of me""

Surely miss Eric's repartee in lyrics

I think there's a whole world that misses Erics words...me, you, his circle of friends, and the quiet ones, the ones that never said out loud....I just hope he's out there writing poems on napkins and telephone books, rocking on!

Isn't it funny, the songs that just become perfectly suited to little ones....My sister always sang Joe Cocker's "You are so beautiful" to her little grandaughter, her little piece of heaven.....and just a few weeks ago she got a surprise video in her in-box....a 4 year old reciting those words right back to her! Beautiful!

Peace~love my friend

Good thing you happen to believe in peace and love.

Makes these things a lot easier...
